| Ankenman Ranch | Oklahoma | USA | |
| Ankenman Ranch has a historic barn, photogenic cattle and traditional cattleman ways. All three aspects would be great for film. The MacNaughton Barn, built in 1893, is a very large and unique structure. It is 120' long and 80' wide, 3 1/2 stories tall and contains trap doors, grain chutes, and floor scales. It was on the original military road between Fort Scott, Kansas and Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. It served as a stage coach stop and the first rural post office in Ottawa County. Tarentaise cattle are an original breed from the Savoie region of France. Their unique coloring make for easy and gorgeous photographs. Their black points (eyes, nose, tail, hooves) combined with their red hair coat are very stiking. We are cattleman. We still work our cattle using horses, not fourwheelers. We have not branched out into farming or other agriculture...we specialize in our cow/calf operation. | |||

| Lanesfield School Historic Site | Kansas | USA | |
| The Lanesfield School Historic Site is a tribute to rural schooling. It consists of a restored one-room schoolhouse, outbuildings and a visitor's center featuring an exhibit on Kansas' one-room schools called "Just Plain Simple: The One-Room School in Kansas." For ninety-three years Lanesfield School served the educational needs of the local rural population. The school opened in 1869 and its students came from farming families. The children fit school in between their morning and evening chores. The schoolteacher taught grades one through eight in the subjects of geography, reading, spelling, arithmetic and penmanship. Former Lanesfield students have fond memories of attending the school. James E. Payne attended Lanesfield school in the 1870s and recalled that "it was interesting to see the [Santa Fe Trail] wagon trains pass by when we could get outside to enjoy the sight." Lanesfield School operated as a one-room school until school district consolidation in 1963. The Museum staff restored the school to its 1904 appearance and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Today, the Lanesfield School Historic Site continues the tradition of one-room schools in Kansas. A costumed schoolteacher leads site tours and conducts 1904 lessons in the schoolhouse. The Lanesfield School Historic Site serves area school groups with a variety of programs, including an award-winning living history program that transports students back to a school day in 1904. Events, such as Christmas at Lanesfield and May Day at Lanesfield, make the Lanesfield School Historic Site a fun place to visit year-round. | |||

| Muscle Car Ranch | OK | USA | |
| I am a collector of the Historic Preservation of signs and road memoribilia ranging from vintage motel and restaurant signs, to oil and gas signs from the last 90 years of our history. Neon signs and even an old diner from the 40's nestled under a huge cottonwood tree near all of the ponds that flow through the ranch. This place was a dairy farm in the early 1900's and all of the barns remain intact, full of nostalgia and signs inside and out with restored semi-trucks to muscle cars, the place has been photographed and filmed by thousands of cameras and is a backdrop unlike any in the world. The huge stage and amphitheater is in use frequently and also is a very unique setting. | |||

| Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven | New York | USA | |
| Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven is a registered not for profit, no-kill shelter for rescued, abused, or neglected farm animals, or those who just need a new home due to changes in their owners’ life circumstances. It is located at historic Alasa Farms, a 700 acre property located in Wayne County, New York overlooking Lake Ontario’s shimmering crown jewel, Great Sodus Bay. The rolling countryside features a perfect blend of open pasture land, fruit orchards, crop land, beautiful forests, hiking and equestrian trails, and a creek that spills over a waterfall and bubbles its way through the forest to its destination of Great Sodus Bay. The Alasa Farms property has a long and rich history. In the late 1800’s it was a Shaker community. The original Manor House, which housed over six dozen people, is the home of the current owner, a descendent of Henry Alvah Strong, the first president of Rochester, New York’s Eastman Kodak Company. The property was purchased by the Strong family in the early 1900’s and has remained in the family ever since. The farm’s barns are magnificent works of art, built with the expertise of craftsmen from days gone by. Both barns feature wainscoted interior walls and ceilings, even inside the horses’ stalls. The barns and pastures were vacant for many years, but after Cracker Box Palace’s move to Alasa Farms in 2004 they are now once again filled with life…animals that are being given a second chance at life. The farm animal population fluctuates; there are currently nearly 140, with 31 horses, 14 pigs, 19 goats, a llama, two sheep, a cow, two dozen rabbits, chickens, turkeys, geese, and working barn cats. The population reached over 200 following a very large rescue effort. Cracker Box Palace is open to the public, and hosts tours for school and community groups throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Over 2,000 children visited the farm in 2008, meeting and greeting the animals, enjoying hayrides, apple picking, and learning about farm animal care and responsible animal ownership. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and spend the day in one of the most peaceful places you’ll ever experience. The farm’s hilltop location offers a view of spectacular sunrises and sunsets and in the spring the sight of the apple and peach orchards in bloom is unparalleled. In the fall the fields of golden corn glow in the Upstate New York sunshine. Many special events are held at the farm each year; the popular “Jammin’ with the Animals Music Fest” is held each August and you can actually watch the horses and goats play along with the music! It’s a unique, special place where the historic past and needs of the present have found a perfect match. | |||
